Common questions

Who is Wonderline for?

Grown-ups. A parent, guardian, grandparent or other adult writes to the characters about the children in their family, and the replies come back to that adult to share however they like. Children never need an account, and the characters only ever write to the grown-up.

Why am I asked for my date of birth?

A Wonderline account has to be held by someone 18 or older, so we ask everyone for their birth month and year once — when they create an account, or the first time an older account does something that needs it, like sending a message or adding a child. Only the answer is kept, never the date itself. If your account was paid for with a card, that already counts and you will not be asked.

I saw "Wonderline is for grown-ups" — what does that mean?

The date of birth given for that account or on that device was under 18, so it cannot be used to write to the characters. There is no retry on purpose. If this was a slip of the finger on your own account, email us from the address on the account and we will sort it out.

How many free messages do I get?

Twenty-five, shared across everyone on your account, and Santa is free to talk to for as long as they last. A yearly plan adds 1,200 messages a year and opens every character.

Can my child type to Santa?

The characters write only to the grown-up on the account, and they will gently ask for one if it looks like a child is typing. The way to include a child is to write on their behalf, read the reply aloud, or play it in Santa's voice — the account, and every word sent, stays with you.
